Josh Jarman Memorial Scholarship

Michaela is the daughter of Dora Garcia of Keenesburg.  She is a senior at Ft. Lupton High School and would like to attend either the University of Colorado Springs or University of Colorado-Boulder.  Her career goal is to become a registered nurse.  She has always had it in her heart to be a nurse, she loves helping people and hearing their stories.  One of the industries that was non stop was the healthcare system.  No matter what is going in the world, there will always be a need for healthcare workers. This industry is always going to need people, they might have all the technology that they need but they will need people to perform the duties.  Michaela really started looking into nursing because one of her cousins is a traveling nurse. She has talked to him about his experiences and any advice he had to give to her. He said it is a lot of hard work but worth the experience. As she get older she would really like to travel and explore the world. So, this is why she started looking into being a traveling nurse. Michaela could combine both of her goals into one. She has been accepted into the University of Northern Colorado Nursing program along with several other Universities in Colorado.

Michaela is a 10-year member Magic Spurs 4H Club and is involved with Visual Arts, sketchbook crossroads and painting. She also did artistic clothing and discovering 4H.  She has been very artistic since she was very young. She sold my first painting when she was just 7 years old for $500.00. It was at a local Art show in Keenesburg, Colorado.  As the years progressed Michaela has become more and more confident in her Artwork. She even started her own Facebook page of my paintings and drawings. Being a 4H member she has learned so many things that have made her a better person and increased her self esteem. One of the things she is super proud of is giving back. How to be a positive contribution to society. This can mean giving back by volunteering, which she has  done numerous times.

Michaela is the recipient of the Josh Jarman Memorial Scholarship.
