Structures and Beekeeping

4-H Endowment Program October Classes

For the Month of October, youth in Weld County have been building their way to success. This month has been all about Structures and how to build them. Youth have learned concepts such as tension and compression as well as what helps a building be earthquake safe. They had a chance to build their own building out of popsicle sticks and withstand the weight of a book. They also were given the “Pringles Challenge” where they were to assemble pringles to create a freestanding loop. Youth have been super excited and amazed by what they can build. This gives them confidence and a little look into the life of an engineer. We have had over 227 youth participate in Structures as well as the YES fest event that we were at. We were also in Windsor for the Food 4 Ever Ag fair where 117 youth came to learn about Beekeeping and pollination. We thank those who make these programs possible by their generous donations so that we can make them free and available to youth of Weld County.
